Merry Christmas on the Bruges Christmas Markets!
The Bruges Christmas Markets are probably one of the most enchanting and fascinating Christmas Markets in the world. Every year around Christmas you can come to Bruges to enjoy the Bruges Christmas Markets on several locations throughout the city, for an amazing Winter in Bruges!
Bruges Christmas Markets on the Market Square
The big Market Square for example, the very heart of the Bruges Christmas Markets, has quite a big outdoor ice-rink. After skating you can try the local gluhwein (hot wine), buy things (anything from Christmas stuff to clothing) in one of the many little Christmas stalls or treat ourself with the delicious Belgian waffle. We admit, the Bruges Christmas Markets are nothing compared to those in Cologne, those Christmas Markets are a lot bigger and a lot more famous so the Bruges Christmas Markets shouldn’t be the main reason why you should come to see Bruges. The city has a lot more to offer, all year round, and the Bruges Christmas Markets are just something extra. The focus should be on enjoying yourselves in a wonderful and picturesque city, with the Bruges Christmas Markets on the background. To get a taste of how things are looking during Christmas in Bruges and New Year in Bruges, watch this video about the Bruges Christmas Markets:
Bruges Christmas Markets on the Simon Stevin Square
Halfway through the Steenstraat, Bruges main shopping street you’ll find the picturesque Simon Stevin Square, the second largest amongst the Bruges Christmas Markets. Every year the square is being transformed into a Christmas fairytale like place, with heated Christmas stalls to eat and drink and small Christmas souvenir shops. Different vibe here than on the bigger Market Square.
Bruges Christmas Markets on the Walplein
This Christmas Market in Bruges is far lesser known to the public but equally attractive. Especially at night, it’s the most beautiful Christmas Market in Bruges, located on a idyllic spot close to the Bruges Beguinage, well worth the visit!
Bruges Christmas Markets: Snow & Ice Sculpture Festival Bruges
You can also enjoy the wonderful Snow & Ice Sculpture Festival Bruges!
